22nd April 2010

Over the last few weeks the river has been going off on both lures and bait. Over the holidays we landed a total of 31 fish with all being either Murray or Trout cod except for only 1 carp. The biggest we managed to land was two 58cm Murray Cod which were both caught on bait. Out of the 31 fish 7 were caught on spinnerbaits. The biggest caught on spinnerbaits was a 47cm Murray cod. A few tales of a bust off on 20lb leader and many spat hooks from big fish. We also missed 3 more hits on spinnerbaits which we didn't manage to hook up. Overall the fishing is great on both spinnerbaits and bait so now is the time to get out there and start catching some fish.

17th March 2010

It's been a while since my last report and since the fishing has been great. A couple of weeks ago i did a trip down the river in my inflatable and we landed 2 carp, a Murray cod at 50cm and a Trout cod at 41cm. Also got busted off 3 times on 20lb leader by something big. The floods have slowed the lure fishing down in the river because of the dirty water which means we have to use bait for a couple of weeks. I am planing a trip down the river this weekend to hopwfully land a few fish. Now is the time to get the rods in the water as the temperature is getting more comfortable for the fish.

19th October 2009

The river is fishing well, with the warmer weather rising the water temp and the fish are starting to be caught more frequently now. The water has been very dirty over the last few days which have made it hard to catch fish on lures although bait has been producing some good results. We went out on Sunday and we caught 5 Cod between 26-33cm and a carp that was 41cm. We were bait fishing the whole day with lure casting in between. We were using all sorts of bait but  garden worms did the trick with 4 of the Murray Cod caught on them and the other on cheese. So it's not a bad time to go wet a line in the Wagga area.

Now is the time to get out fishing. We went out last Saturday for a few hours and caught nothing because we were in the middle of town. Even though we caught nothing I tell you the fishing is very good at the moment. Old Man Creek is going off with some great fish being caught out there at the moment. Also the dams are good to be targeting big Yellow belly, because they are starting to school up in bigger groups. Now would be a good time to go throw a lure at them. If I were thinking about going fishing soon I would go out now because the fish are on the bite!

21st November 2009

It has been a long time since my last report and many fish have been getting caught in this time. The river is a bit quiet for the bigger fish that exceed 55cm but there are heaps of small fish biting at the moment in the river. Go down and through some bait in and you should most properly catch a small native. I've been fishing for carp over the last few weeks and I'll tell you now they are so fun to catch. Burly them up with some bread and when you find a school of them that is biting it is so much fun. Also we went down to Beavers weir a couple of weeks ago and caught a couple of small Murray Cod and a big carp. The fresh bardi grubs that we were using were getting absolutely hammered by something but we kept missing them and didn't get to see what was eating our grubs. The big Cod aren't feeding at the moment but you still get out there and have a bit of fun.

15th December 2009

Its' been a while since my last report and the fishing is going good. On the weekend I went down to the river and we pulled in a 37cm Murray Cod on cheese and a 25cm Trout Cod on scrub worms. We missed a fair few bites that could of resulted in a few more fish if we had of landed them. If you want to head out and catch a few small fish and have a bit of fun now is the time to get the rods out of the cupboard and start cleaning them up. The weather is warming up and there are more small fish coming out to feed which fills in the gaps between bigger fish. The dams are fishing well with some good fish coming out at night and early morning. Well done to Dave Carter on that amazing 149cm Murray Cod from Blowering! Also send in your photos and i'll be more than happy to put them up on the site. Happy Fishing!

1st February 2010

Again it has been a while since we last wrote a report but in that time a lot of smallish fish have been caught in the Murrumbidgee. On the weekend we went out fishing the river. We launched from Gumly Reserve and drifted down past the quarry and fished the snags along there for a few hours. We came away with 1 fish, which was a 29cm Trout Cod, also being Zac's first cod. This fish was caught in a wierd manner as Zac was snagged up on a log and the cod just came up must have taken the bait of cheese of the log and being hooked in the process. Elsewhere there are lots of fish being caught at Burrinjuck and Blowering. And in the near future we will be in the Wagga Classic fishing comp and the week after that we are headed off to Mannus Lake for a weekend of fishing. And if you want your photo's on this site just send them in. Happy Fishing!
